Ann Schroeder is a textile artist living in Mabou Harbour. Ann dyes her own fabric and makes fine art quilts that evoke Cape Breton landscpaes, weather, and music. The Mabou Village Gallery operated by artist Suzanne Chrysler MacDonald is now open at its new location at 11511 Highway 19, Mabou, directly behind An Drochaid (The Bridge Museum). Peter Rankin

Rankin's recent works include illustrations for Alistair MacLeod's compilation of short stories "To Every Thing There Is a Season" and Joanne Taylor's "Making Room",( a children's book for which he won the 2004 Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration). Art from both works headline the Air Aithris Aig M'Athair show, along with a number of other images inspired by stories of earlier times, often told by his late father John Archie Rankin. Peter Rankin, who had his first published works while still in high school, relects his passion for countryside settings in rich and earthy interpretations of people on the land and their places of belonging.

Lisa Nishi

Lisa Nishi studied Fine Art at Washington University in St. Louis, Advanced Textile Design at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, and Fashion Design at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Her work has been in Vogue Magazine and on the cover of Neiman Marcus, 'The Book'. Her work has been sold in New York, London, and Paris and is currently on offer at The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Halifax and The Museum of Natural History, Manhattan. Margie MacInnis of West Mabou wanted to recycle all the pieces of fabric in her sewing room. This led to Margie developing "Purse-Only Yours"-her very own unique line of designed handbags. By making these unique purses and bags, Margie recycles and extends the life of clothing and fabrics, keeping them out of the landfill. No two purses are alike.
